Welcome to the Garda Lake

Toscolano Maderno

This villa is located in Toscolano Maderno and enjoys a strategic location near theme parks and the lakefront.

Maderno is a characteristic and historical small center with bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors.

The lakeside promenade is very nice, relaxing e accessibile in auto solo ai proprietari di case.

Maderno also has two berths for boats for visiting the lake without queuing by car.

The first, just 750 meters on foot, allows you to load your car and reach the opposite Veronese side at Torri del Benaco (the only lake route with car on the whole lake). The second, 150 meters later, is only for people but allows the navigation of the whole lake with many stops in all the localities of the lake.

In Maderno there are three supermarkets, one pharmacy, one ATM, many restaurants and coffee shop  within walking distance.

Surroundings

There are so many places to visit around here, for all tastes. It would be impossible to list them all but I recommend you to visit the official website for the promotion of Lake Garda because it is very complete and has well-organized sections “visitgarda”.

Gardaland and Natura Viva Park must be visited with children.

Do not miss a visit for adults in Gardone Riviera, Desenzano and Sirmione to discover the wonderful thermal baths of Catullo and Aquaria.

The nearest cities are Brescia and Verona.

Things to do

CHIESA ROMANICA SANT’ANDREA – Maderno

The church has three aisles, an elevated chancel and the remains of fifteenth-century frescoes. There is also a reproduction of the “Martyrdom of St. Lawrence”, an altarpiece depicting St Philip Neri and Charles Borromeo by Paolo Veronese and some paintings by Andrea Celesti.

VALLE DELLE CARTIERE – Toscolano Maderno

The Landscape is extremely impressive, hard to imagine for those who have to travel the road that runs along the nearby Lake Garda. You can see abandoned buildings among the green surroundings, a sign of how nature quickly re-apppropriates things. The charm of the ruins is certainly helped by the rich and varied vegetation that characterizes these places, favored by a mild climate.

VITTORIALE DEGLI ITALIANI – Gardone Riviera

A small monumental village designed by Gabriele D’Annunzio with help of the architect Giancarlo Maroni. Inside you will find squares, there’s, buildings and waterways dedicated to the poet’s life and the labors of the Italians during First World War.

Summer hours (from 11/3 to 15/10) 09.00 am to 07.00 pm  Admission: Euro 18,00 adults

ISOLA DEL GARDA – San Felice del Benaco

The island of Garda, also known as the Isola Borghese, is the largest island of Lake Garda. The island was visited by famous personalities and changed hands many times over the years. In 1927 the island was inherited by the family of the Cavazza Counts, who still live here and take care of the park and the preservation of the building, which has been open to visitors since 2002.

Please see www.isoladelgarda.com to have prices and hours.

ROCCA DI MANERBA – Manerba del Garda

Rocca is located on a rocky spur overlooking Lake Garda, very easy to reach by car form the centers of Manerba. The parking is a few meters from the top, on which, in a spectacular position, are the remains of the Caste known as “Rocca”, surmounted by a large cross. You can access the fortress through the path that crosses the park, cuts to the plateau of the “Sasso” and climbs up to the ruins of the Castle.

GROTTE DI CATULLO – Sirmione

The Grotte di Catullo are the most impressive testimony of the Roman villa in northern Italy. The name “Grotte” or caves dates from the fifteenth century, when some commentators found the remains of these “caves”, which were mostly in ruins and grassed over. The archaeological site is located at the end of the peninsula and is accessible only on foot or by the electric train that runs from the square in front of the thermal baths of Sirmione.

CASTELLO SCALIGERO – Sirmione

The Scaliger castle of Sirmione is a fortress of the Scaliger era, an access point to the historic center of Sirmione. It is one of the most complete and best preserved castles in Italy, as well as a rare example of marine lake fortification.
